Upcoming PIM Workshop on Agricultural Extension

The CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions and Markets is organizing a workshop on "Research on agricultural extension systems: What have we learned, and where do we go from here?"  The workshop will be held on 15-16 October, 2013 at IFPRI Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Value Chains: PIM Workshop

On Thursday, July 11 2013, PIM researchers met for the Value Chains Internal Workshop at IFPRI headquarters in Washington, DC.  The meeting was led by Maximo Torero and included presentations from key Focal Points from Bioversity, CIAT, CIP, ICRAF, ICRISAT, IFPRI, IITA, and ILRI.

Research for Impact: EU Biofuel Policy

On 11 July 2013, members of the environment committee of the European Union voted to limit the amount of biofuel used to meet European Union targets for the transportation industry. The vote was supported based on evidence provided by on-going research on the indirect land use change impacts of biofuels (ILUC).

PIM Management Committee and Focal Points Meeting

On 9-10 July, representatives from 11 CGIAR Centers (Bioversity International, CIAT, CIMMYT, CIP, ICARDA, ICRAF, ICRISAT, IFPRI, IITA, ILRI, WorldFish), CARE, Yale University, and the CGIAR Consortium met for the PIM Management Committee and Focal Points meeting in Washington, DC. Data Needs for Gender Research: Seminar

On 8 July 2013, Cheryl Doss, Gender Lead for PIM, presented a talk on “Data Needs for Gender Analysis” as part of the Gender Methods Seminar Series hosted by IFPRI’s Gender Task Force.  The seminar drew from insights from research on household data collected in Kenya, Ecuador, Ghana, and Karnataka, India.
