AFRICAN GREEN REVOLUTION FORUM 2019

August 2, 2019

The African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) is the world's leading forum for African agriculture, bringing together critical stakeholders in the agricultural landscape to discuss and commit to programs, investments, and policies to achieve an inclusive and sustainable agricultural transformation across the continent.

The topic of AGRF 2019 is “Grow Digital: Leveraging Digital Transformation to Drive Sustainable Food Systems in Africa.” It will be held on September 3-6 in Accra, Ghana. CGIAR is one of the AGRF Partners.

Prof. Thomas Jayne, co-leader of PIM’s Flagship 2: Economywide Factors Affecting Agricultural Growth and Rural Transformation, will moderate a side event on “Megatrends Driving Agrifood System Transformation in Africa”. This session highlights the rapidly changing nature of African agricultural and food systems. The premise of the sessions is that given accelerated pace of change, it is increasingly important for African governments to anticipate the challenges posed by these megatrends and respond pro-actively rather than reactively to them. Dr. Jayne will also participate in the policy symposium on “Achieving Predictability in Regional Food Trade Policy”. His presentation will focus on how food price volatility in the region can be affected by government behaviors that influence whether and how the private sector engages in food markets, drawing on evidence from east and southern Africa.
