FLAGSHIP 2 – ECONOMYWIDE FACTORS AFFECTING AGRICULTURAL GROWTH AND RURAL TRANSFORMATION: JANUARY – MARCH 2018 UPDATES

  • PIM Flagship 2 collaborators Thomas Jayne and Jordan Chamberlin teamed with Rui Benfica of IFAD as guest editors of the special issue of the Journal of Development Studies on Economic Transformation in Africa (Issue 54, Volume 5, 2018).  This special issue contains nine articles presenting fresh evidence on the region’s unfolding economic transformations, six of them co-authored by members of the PIM research team.
  • Flagship 2 co-leader Thomas Jayne was named one of the five Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Fellows for 2018. AAEA recognizes a small group of professionals each year who have made outstanding continuous contributions to the profession. They are named AAEA Fellows and recognized at the Annual Meeting. This is AAEA's most prestigious honor.
  • Tewodaj Mogues, leader of Flagship 2 cluster on public investments and institutions, was selected an FPI Fellow for 2018. The FPI (Foreign Policy Interrupted) Fellowship provides opportunities for mid- to late-career women academics and professionals involved with international policy to strengthen the impact of their work on policy, through effective media outreach.
  • David Evans and Katrina Kosec discuss in this blog, which builds on their recent paper, how locally-managed conditional cash transfers may increase trust in local governments.
